Our goal is to promote training and education to our members throughout the state.

 

Instructor: Mark Spoo is a 45 year veteran of the fire service. He’s currently the Fire Marshal and Investigator for the River Grove Fire Department and Inspector with the Addison Fire District. An investigator for 20 years, his specialty is photography and digital documentation of the fire scene.

As a professional photographer he understands the budget constraints of fire departments and the need to get excellent photos of fire scenes during fire investigations. The class will encompass what photos to take, what equipment to use and NOT to use, how to prepare for court and how to archive the photos you have taken

The course consists of both classroom and field work. A short drive will be required for the actual photography portion of the course. NO EQUIPMENT WILL BE PROVIDED. Participants should bring the equipment they use during the course of their investigations and dress appropriately for the weather.
